This week in my web business creation class we finally launched our ad campaigns and learned how to optimize them which we will be doing over the course of the next two weeks. One of the things that we learned was how to setup and implement Google Analytics on our websites. This is important for optimizing your website because you need to be able to look at the data when making decisions about what changes to make to ad campaigns. One of the most important pieces of data for ad optimization is the conversion rate because it shows how successful your campaign is at getting the result you actually want from running your campaign. In order to track conversion rates I had to put tracking code on my website on the webpage that people would reach after performing the desired action.
One thing I have learned already is that I need to change my conversion action from a purchase to an email sign up because if I focus on building my email list I will be able to reach potential customers for free and give them what they want while I show them what they need. My email list will have a free version as well as a premium version so it will even have the potential to make me money.
