This week in my Web Business Creation class we focused on different sources for products. On key piece of information is that in web business there aren't just physical products and the word is used more to describe what the money making method of the business model is. This could be a digital product, physical product that requires shipping and handling, advertising, or even selling someone else's products and taking a cut just for sending the customer their way which is known as an affiliate program.
As we have looked into different methods for product sourcing I have been trying to think of the longevity of the web business I create. I would like to start something that can eventually run on its own without a ton of input on a daily basis. This has started to make me lean more towards an affiliate model of business because I could choose a topic that I am passionate about, focus on creating quality content, and then profit off of recommending products I genuinely like. One idea that keeps popping into my head is how when I was working for a small business locally, the best way we grew our following was through giveaways and while I was helping to source giveaways it was often easy to get the business to donate for the publicity that is provided so we were able to gain followers for very little cost. I might want to try and utilize this growth method as a key part of my business model.
