FX3 Practice and Study

By Braden Moser on October 24, 2021

During this week I took some time to practice with the FX3 setup that is available to me like how I planned to do after my first shoot. I did not mention this in the last post but I ended up being very lucky with my footage. The FX3 setup that the school gives us is able to record to the attached monitor which you can see in the pictures below. But it also allows you to record to the tough card inside the camera body. For the shoot I did last week I made sure I was recording to both the tough card and the monitor just to be safe with the footage I was getting. The color corrected image I shared previously was from the footage recorded to the tough card, not the RAW footage recorded on the monitor. The reason why is because the footage that was on the monitor looked like this:

As you can see, he was literally glowing with happiness. So this week I volunteered to help one of my classmates with his shoot and we used the FX3 there. I took the time to watch a few videos to learn how to setup the settings properly and work the monitor. Hopefully I can get a couple screenshots of the footage from that shoot to share next week, but I feel way more confident in my abilities on the FX3 now. My main goal for this next week is to finish getting all the b-roll for my interview with Franco and to finalize my second interview as far as scheduling a day to record. It has been hard trying to work with the schedule of the successful person in this film.
