It's all coming down to this! It's been a long semester and this week I spent a lot of time fine tuning the timing of my edit. I have been preparing to show my professor a nearly finished product and while I've been watching my documentary film over and over again while editing I'm starting to have some thoughts. That has been the biggest challenge I've faced this week is resisting the urge to make huge changes to my edit and the story, however I'm hoping to get feedback from my professor and see what he thinks I should do to improve the story and flow of my edit.
The biggest thing I've learned is that I needed to give myself more close ups. I feel like this is something that comes up with every project I do where I want more close up shots of my subjects but I always forget to record them when I'm at my shoots. My brain works on context and big picture so it is uncomfortable for me to look so closely at something, but in my edit I always find myself wishing I could see something just a little closer.
Because I spent most of my time in the edit bay this week I have some screenshots to share of my edit process and what my timeline is looking like. I have found that I spend a bit too much time on sound making tiny tweaks that will probably go unnoticed by anyone but myself.
